Description:

A Store Associate delivers world-class customer service to all retail customers by receiving and processing packages for courier shipment using the POS computer and operating copiers, fax machines, binding equipment, and laminating machines. The Associate expertly advises our valued customers by providing accurate information on our array of products, services, and best-value options and exhibits confidence by knowing best practices related to the industry. You will be an important part of a small team of energetic people.

The job requires having discussions with customers, understanding their needs and providing the appropriate solution. This will involve learning about shipping rules and options, packaging techniques and skills and printing details and terms, among other skill sets.

The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, a high school diploma or GED, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. He or she must be a fast learner who makes an effort to learn all aspects of the business in the shortest possible time. The pace is often very fast and can be nonstop during the holidays. It does take about 6 months to fully train, so an applicant who can commit to a year or more is a plus.  Physical requirements include the ability to stand for several hours at a time and ability to lift 50-75+ lbs. The Associate must be at least 18 years of age.

THIS IS A FULL TIME JOB, not looking for just Summer Help.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers outstanding customer service to walk-in customers and telephone inquiries
  • Continuously practices good listening skills with customers, UPS Store team members, and leadership
  • Empathizes and manages demanding, impatient, and/or frustrated customers to turn a stressful event into a positive experience
  • Takes ownership of the customer's shipping needs and offers viable solutions
  • Takes action to learn all product and service offerings, alternative solutions, and industry trends
  • Operates all equipment, software, and devices in an expert fashion and is willing to teach others
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Retail/customer service experience
Good communication and people skills
Strong computer skills, Outstanding phone skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math
Prompt, reliable, and responsible
Physical requirements include the ability to stand for several hours at a time and ability to lift 50-75+ lbs.
