Summary Of Position

The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill.

Essential Job Functions

• Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles preparing for the Equipment Operator.
• Direct customers to safely dump their debris at the landfill.
• Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed.
• Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size.
• Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill.
• Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.
• Report any safety factors that could affect workers or the public.
• Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.
• Keep up to date on current technology as used by Waste Pro.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

• Ability to learn and use interpersonal skills related to good customer service.
• Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments.

Works in a variety of environmental conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
