SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles prepping for the Equipment Operator.
  • Direct Customers where to safely dump their debris at the landfill.
  • Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed.
  • Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size.
  • Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill.
  • Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Report any worker-public safety factors.
  • Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.
  • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to follow safe operating practices.
  • Ability to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments.

  • Push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climbing steps, and overhead reaching.
  • Walking, Jogging, Twisting, Crouching, Lifting.
  • Sufficient stamina for steady work pace throughout the day.
  • Ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by company.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
