Description

Join our Manufacturing team - production, assembly, operation of equipment, and more - and help us deliver an unmatched selection of products made with quality materials and workmanship. The Casting department operates gold casting equipment and excels in mold making and knockout operations, using a hydraulic clipping machine to cut gold jewelry castings. Their work involves pouring molten metal into molds to create detailed, symmetrical products, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and commitment to quality.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Casting Engineer to support defect analysis and root cause investigations across both investment (lost wax) and continuous casting operations. This role is essential to maintaining high-quality standards in precision metal casting, ensuring consistent performance across a variety of alloys, geometries, and production methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for casting defects such as porosity, incomplete fills, surface roughness, segregation, and inclusions.
  • Collaborate with design, tooling, and production teams to identify process-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze wax pattern quality, mold integrity, burnout cycles, investment slurry composition, and casting parameters.
  • Monitor and optimize continuous casting variables such as cooling rates, mold oscillation, and metal flow.
  • Develop and maintain defect tracking systems and RCA documentation for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend process adjustments and tooling modifications to improve yield, surface quality, and metallurgical integrity.
  • Support metallurgical evaluations and testing of alloys used in both investment and continuous casting.
  • Train production staff on defect recognition, prevention techniques, and best practices across casting methods.
  • Participate in new product development to ensure castability and manufacturability of complex designs.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in casting operations (investment and/or continuous).
  • Strong understanding of casting processes, alloy behavior, and defect mechanisms.
  • Experience with RCA tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM workflows and design for manufacturability.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with vacuum, centrifugal, and continuous casting systems.
  • Knowledge of alloy solidification, refining techniques, and thermal management.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Hands-on experience with mold making, wax injection, burnout optimization, and continuous casting setup.
  • Understanding of finishing processes and downstream quality control.
