Gryphon Oakwood are looking for a Vice President of Operations to be responsible for the growth and management of the transmission & substation construction of a growing Transmission and Distribution Contractor. This is an executive level position that will manage the transmission supervision and ensure a productive workforce that supports all divisional, departmental, site and corporate goals. The Operations Vice President will focus on client development, as well as building and maintaining relationships, but will also oversee job estimation, account management, and financial performance.


Responsibilities


  • Cultivate and maintain executive-level client relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with Area Managers and Supervisors to ensure client business objectives are achieved, emphasizing superior safety standards, efficient crew allocation, and effective emergency response capabilities.
  • Equip field leadership with the necessary tools and resources to effectively oversee crew operations, ensuring safe execution of new construction, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Manage all facets of contract negotiation, bidding, estimating, change order identification, submission, and approval, administration, and establish the operational framework for contract execution, including subcontractor management and material procurement.
  • Implement and maintain effective change control and risk management procedures.
  • Develop comprehensive estimates and proposals for site-specific projects and master service agreements.
  • Provide accurate monthly financial reports with thorough supporting documentation for management, internal, and external accounting purposes.


Qualifications


  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in construction/project management, specifically within transmission and substation projects, including barehand work.
  • Must be available to work overtime or extended hours during emergency situations and/or upon request, with the understanding that schedules may change frequently and with minimal notice.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% is required.
  • Must adhere to all company safety rules and policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard construction practices, techniques, quality requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to provide effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting material lists, bid packages, scope documents, schedules, and budgets essential for successful work performance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all facets of electrical distribution and transmission systems.
