Help Desk Support Analyst

Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to end users for computers, software, and applications.
  • Document and respond to user requests via phone, walk-up, email, or Help Desk system, track progress until resolution.
  • Administer user accounts, mailboxes, and security/distribution groups.
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Maintain and update Windows OS, desktop applications, patches, and anti-virus software.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues by engaging users through effective questioning and troubleshooting steps.
  • Assist in managing IT asset inventory.
  • Escalate unresolved application issues to the appropriate support teams.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of company software, business processes, and applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotations during evenings and weekends to address critical IT support needs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience (2+ years in IT support).

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and resolve issues efficiently under pressure.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Windows desktop and server environments
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Security, and Group Policy Objects
    • Exchange and mobile messaging (ActiveSync)
    • IT Help Desk ticketing systems
    • Anti-virus and security applications
  • Preferred but not required:
    • Experience with VMware, VDI Environment, Cisco Unified Call Manager, SharePoint, and Apple iOS devices

Soft Skills:
  • Quick learner with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a user-friendly manner.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Work Conditions:
  • Extended periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing and troubleshooting computer hardware.
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy IT equipment.
  • On-call availability requiring remote access to company IT resources for critical support issues.
