Spherion has a Direct Hire opening for a 3rd Shift Sanitation Team Leader for a local food manufacturing company. The Sanitation Team Leader oversees the maintenance of a food-safe environment while ensuring compliance with various quality and safety standards and regulations such as Food Safety, HACCP, and OSHA.

The Sanitation Team Leader oversees sanitation activities, supports multiple plants, and handles continuous improvement, scheduling, and record-keeping, while also serving as a backup to the Food Safety Manager. They also work on building internal relationships and promoting a culture of High-Performance Work Practices, especially safety, are critical, with the role primarily involving standing in a manufacturing facility and some time spent sitting in an office setting.

Schedule: M-F 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Salary: $50,000-60,000 annually

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead and manage direct report and cross-functional teams
• Develop, execute, and validate plant sanitation systems while monitoring progress and identifying areas for improvement.
• Establish effective and efficient sanitation programs and practices, ensuring adherence to the Master Sanitation Schedule and documentation.
• Conduct training for sanitation employees on safety, food safety, regulatory requirements, and company-specific protocols.
• Participate in plant inspections and audits to address issues related to food and plant safety, coordinating corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including OSHA, EEOC, and SQF standards.

Required Skills:

• Highly refined people management, planning, and organization skills
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and strong problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and relevant federal and state regulations related to quality and food safety
• Expertise in sanitation within food manufacturing environments
• Ability to design and implement sanitation practices for wet and dry facilities
• Familiarity with CIP/COP systems and sanitary equipment design
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and cleaning tools
• Understanding of basic chemistry and math skills (percentages, proportions, etc.)
• Knowledge of Lock out/Tag out procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, SAP, and Intelex
• Proven ability to provide proactive leadership and manage conflicts efficiently
• Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl under equipment, and work in tight spaces
• Self-motivated and disciplined, capable of working under limited direction
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations

Education/Experience Level:

• Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred or relevant experience
• 3+ years' experience in a food processing plant is preferred.
• Experience building and managing a MSS and ensuring compliance with GMPs and USDA/FDA regulations.
• Experience with GFSI third party audits (SQF, BRC, etc.) preferred.

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
